Introduction

Hellooo and welcome to "The Horseless Rider!" My name is Becky, and this is my blog.

Before I go any further with all this, let me give you a small idea of who I am.

I'm a senior in high school (not quite so called "legal" yet, but soooooon!), and am planning to go to AIP in the fall - commuting, of course, since I get too homesick too easily. I love animals in general, and am fortunate enough to have two gorgeous kitties and one beautiful puppy gracing my life. I love music, art, and foreign cultures a lot (Japan, Germany, and England are the current top 3 that I want to visit someday), as well as hanging out with my besties (we're on YouTube, so check us out! We're cool xD)

I've been taking riding lessons since I was 9-years-old. I took a variety of different types of lessons, everything from English Pleasure to Dressage to Hunter Jumper and even some Western (I think I like jumping the best, though). Due to incliment weather and this year being my last year of school (and needing to prepare for college next year), among other things, I no longer ride regularly (but miss it more than anything in the world!!!). However, taking this time off has helped me to realize, that, given the possiblity of going back to taking lessons (unless a certain friend does seriously want to teach me this summer....I'm willing to shell out the cash.....ha ha), that's not necessarily what I want to do anymore. You see, I've been giving it a lot of thought, and...........what I truly want is my own horse. I don't want to lease, I don't want to keep riding schoolponies (who either a. get sold out from under me or b. are "dominated" by another rider who usually (but not always) is a trainer favorite), I want my own. I've been in this sport for 9 years now. I've ridden at several barns and have worked hard (and when I say that, I'm not talking about just riding. I used to feed the horses and take care of one barn pro bono....I should have probably been paid though, since everyone else was. Oh, and I've taught lessons too, as well as helped out with lessons, and barn work. I've also leased horses, Pony Clubbed, and spent hours doing groundwork and finding myself in a few unpleasnt emergencies that definitely have helped me to learn about how to handle bad situations, so, yeah, I know a thing or two.) and besides money being the primary issue (I do have a job though, and I will probably be sharing my first horse with my sister) as well as possibly time (I think college will be a whole different experience), I'm convinced, deep down in my heart, that my time to enter the world of horsey ownership is readily approaching. And I can't wait.

The question now, is, where is my future horse?

I'll explain that later.
